The Theory Test
There are two parts you will need to successfully pass at the same time before you can move on to do the practical test:
- The theory test. This consists of a set of 50 multiple choice questions, which are chosen randomly from a bank of over a thousand covering all the major driving topics. Candidates are given 57 minutes to complete the test and must answer 43 or more questions correctly in order to pass.
Test yourself online - The hazard perception test. This deals with testing the candidates’ ability to identify and deal with potential hazards on the road. Here you will be shown a set of 14 video clips each of one minute in length showing possible hazards involving pedestrians, road conditions and road users. There are a maximum of 15 hazards to identify and each one can earn you up to five points depending on how quickly you manage to spot them. In order to pass you are expected to score a minimum of 44 out of a possible 75.
